PDP Elects New Ebonyi Chairman, Eyes 2027 State Takeover

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has named Peter Nwele as its new chairman, tasking him with rebuilding party unity ahead of the 2027 elections. Nwele, who announced plans to reintegrate former members, emphasized his commitment to restoring PDP dominance in the state, a traditional stronghold.

During the state congress in Abakaliki, Nwele addressed party supporters, affirming his goal of uniting members. “Ebonyi State has always been PDP, and it will remain so,” he said. “There is no crisis in the party. Our focus now is on reconciliation and bringing back those who left.”

The congress, overseen by representatives from the PDP National Secretariat, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies, was reportedly peaceful. Ugonna Ogbonna, Chairman of the Congress Committee, praised attendees for their orderly conduct.

Chief Ali Odefa, PDP’s National Vice Chairman for the South East, reinforced the party’s cohesion, underscoring the strong public support for PDP in Ebonyi and nationwide. He reiterated the party’s objective of regaining control from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.

With renewed efforts on reconciliation, PDP leaders are optimistic about consolidating support for a victorious comeback in 2027.
