Ondo State Governor Signs 2024 Supplementary Budget into Law

Aiyedatiwa signs N96b supplementary budget, captures N73,000 minimum wage

Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has signed the state’s 2024 supplementary budget into law, marking a significant step towards addressing new financial commitments. The supplementary budget, which amounts to N96.8 billion, includes provisions for the newly approved minimum wage of N73,000 for workers, as well as salaries for newly recruited staff across various sectors.

The supplementary budget was passed by the State House of Assembly and signed by Aiyedatiwa at the Executive Council Chambers in the Governor’s Office. This brings the total budget for the year to N492.04 billion, with recurrent expenditure at N246.7 billion and capital expenditure at N245.3 billion.

Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the supplementary budget underscores his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and the development of the state’s 18 local government areas. He also signed into law a bill to expand the board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC). This move is intended to ensure greater inclusivity and equitable representation from the affected regions.

The signing of these measures reflects a continued focus on both the well-being of the state’s workforce and the broader development needs of Ondo.
