NPFL: Amuneke unhappy Heartland failed to beat Rangers

Heartland technical adviser, Emmanuel Amuneke, has shared his thoughts on his team’s oriental derby clash with Rangers.

The Naze Millionaires were held to a 0-0 draw by Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, last weekend.

Heartland extended their unbeaten streak to five games following the stalemate.

Amuneke said they went into the game with the motive of securing maximum points but admitted the visitors made things difficult for his team.

The 1994 African Player of the Year winner also stated that they have shifted attention to Wednesday’s away clash at Kwara United.

“Our intention is always to win. When you watch how we play, we try to manage the game while adapting to the challenges posed by the opposition. Rangers are a strong team with quality players, and as defending champions, they deserve respect,” Amuneke said after the game.

“We started the season on a shaky note, but we understand what went wrong and are working to improve. It’s important that we didn’t lose today. Now, we’ll go back, correct our mistakes, and prepare for our next game against Kwara United in Ilorin on Wednesday.”
