UCL: He’s best in the world – Ancelotti names player to play Carvajal’s position against Liverpool

Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has discussed his options at right-back ahead of Los Blancos’ UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool.

Real Madrid are light in the right back position with injuries to Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vasquez.

Federico Valverde was used in that position in Los Blancos’ most recent game, a 3-0 win away at Leganes, and he did very well.

“Lucas and Tchouameni… we don’t know, but we’ll try to get them back. The truth is that Fede, at the back, did very well,” he told AS.

“As did Asencio, who played a very serious game, played with maturity. After Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, he’s the best right-back in the world.

“His problem is that he can play at this level in many positions and the coach’s problem is choosing his best position for the team.”

The Italian gaffer said, “It’s something I have to think about,” when asked if that meant Valverde would play in the same position against Liverpool.

Los Blancos are out to defend their LaLiga and Champions League crowns this season.
