Nigeria needs listening leaders who don’t act like they know it all – Peter Obi

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, says Nigeria will do well with leaders who respect popular views about making the country a better place.

Obi made the remark in Yola on Saturday as the keynote speaker at the 16th Annual Founder’s Day and 20th Anniversary of the American University of Nigeria, AUN, Yola.

He said Nigeria could not hope to develop without leaders who work with the people for national development.

“Leaders must be listeners and be ready to learn the right thing and to do it. Leaders must not act as though they know it all,” Obi said.

Delivering the Founder’s Day Special Remark during the ceremony, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, defended the establishment of the AUN as a school delivering America-style education.

He said he has no apology for developing the university based on the American system, as his wish is for Nigerians and other interested people to be able to receive the sort of education in America without having to go to America.
