Ballon d’Or: Emmanuel Petit names three players that could stop Palmer from winning award

Former Chelsea midfielder, Emmanuel Petit has sighted three possible rivals that could stop Cole Palmer from winning the Ballon d’Or.

Palmer has been impressive since joining Chelsea from Manchester City.

The England international made the final 30-man Ballon d’Or power rankings this year.

However, Petit, a former Arsenal star, believes the likes of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe could prevent Palmer from winning the Ballon d’Or.

“Lamine] Yamal at Barcelona, Vinicius or maybe [Kylian] Mbappe, if he comes back,” Petit told talkSPORT about the players that could stop Palmer from winning the Ballon d’Or.

“He [Palmer] has to show his abilities every single weekend. This is what he’s doing right now. He’s been playing like that now for 16 months already.

“If he wants to reach his dream, he has to do that on the highest level. Which means the Champions League and as well with the national team.”
