Okpebholo’s Asset recovery committee storms Election Petitions Tribunal to recover vehicle

Members of the Edo State Assets Recovery Committee on Wednesday stormed the election petition tribunal to recover the state government’s vehicle allegedly in PDP possession.

Media Talk Africa reports that the Election Tribunal is adjudicating on the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

The members of the committee were in the court to recover a 32-seater coaster bus, that conveyed counsel of the Peoples Democratic Party, to the tribunal sitting at the premises of the Edo High Court.

Media Talk Africa gathered that some members of the recovery committee had in the morning, before the sitting of the tribunal attempted to recover the vehicle.

The committee said the bus was one of the assets taken away by some officials of the immediate past administration of Godwin Obaseki.

It was also gathered from a source that the committee later reached an accord with the occupants who were majorly senior lawyers that the bus would be returned once it took them back to their destinations.

The source said, drama, however, ensued when the committee members disregarded the accord after the sitting and sought to forcefully recover the bus.

The action later resulted in fisticuffs among the occupants of the bus and some members of the committee.

It, however, took the intervention of chieftains of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to settle the matter.

The lawyers were later seen, leaving the court on the bus.
