Serie A: Atalanta boss refuses to take credit for Lookman’s rise to stardom

Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini has refused to take credit for Ademola Lookman’s remarkable rise to stardom.

Gasperini signed Lookman from Bundesliga outfit, RB Leipzig in 2022.

The Nigeria international has developed into one of the biggest football stars under his tutelage.

Lookman has won Atalanta’s Player of the Season for the last two campaigns.

The winger also finished 14th in the Ballon d’Or ranking this year.

The former Leicester City player was crowned African Footballer of the Year on Monday.

“For many years, the objective for Atalanta was to improve players and see them go to greater heights,” he said per Football Italia.

“It’s not my credit, it goes to everyone at Atalanta who help the players to grow, and of course, the credit goes to the players themselves.

“They have what it takes, we just help them to bring that out.”
