Pogba’s brother handed three-year jail sentence

Paul Pogba’s brother, Mathias, has been handed a three-year prison sentence for his role in attempting to blackmail the former Manchester United star.

Mathias was arrested and charged in late 2022 in connection with an £11 million extortion plot against his brother.

On Thursday, a court in Paris sentenced him to three years in prison, with two years suspended. However, the 34-year-old will serve the remaining year under electronic monitoring rather than in jail.

Paul Pogba, 31, told police that a group of childhood friends, including Mathias, had demanded money for “protection services” dating back 13 years.

Pogba also revealed that the extortion plot had such an impact on him that he considered retiring from football in 2023.
