Abia Govt disowns fake Gov Otti N25,000 Xmas gift advert

The Abia State Government has disowned a fake Christmas grant advertisement trending on social media.

The advert declares a N25,000 Christmas cash grant from Governor Alex Otti for the people of Abia, with a link provided for interested persons to apply.

However, the Abia State government disowned the advert, describing those behind it as criminals.

A statement signed by Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otti, on Friday, said the offer was a deliberate criminal attempt to deceive and scam the unsuspecting public.

Ukoha, while advising the public in Abia to shun the fake N25,000 offer, said that security agencies have been alerted to investigate and arrest those behind the scam.

He further stated that all social investment, welfare, and intervention programmes of the governor and the government of Abia State are published on the official website of the Abia State government.
