CHAN 2024 qualifier: Eagles battle Ghana’s Black Galaxies to draw in Accra

The home-based Super Eagles held hosts Ghana to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their 2024 African Nations Championship qualifier in Accra on Sunday.

Ghana’s Black Galaxies dominated the first half but failed to break down the Nigerian defence.

Stephen Amankwoo came close to scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute, but his shot went just inches wide.

The Super Eagles grew into the game after the break and came close to scoring when Sikiru Alimi’s effort hit the woodwork.

Both teams will meet again in the reverse fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

The winner on aggregate will qualify for the African Nations Championship, CHAN 2024, which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The competition is reserved exclusively for professional footballers playing in their country’s domestic leagues.
