Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar, mother of Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi, is dead.
The sad news was confirmed by Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in a statement on Wednesday.
Hajiya Umar died on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, after a brief illness.
“With deep sorrow and submission to the will of Allah, His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi, Governor of announces the passing of his dear mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar.
“She departed this world in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25th, 2024,” the statement said.
The burial rites will take place today, Wednesday, at 4:30 pm in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The governor and his family urged members of the public to pray for the repose of Hajiya Umar’s soul.
