NPFL: Akwa United coach Abdullahi reveals plan to escape relegation

Akwa United coach, Umar Abdullahi has revealed the team’s mission to escape relegation relegation in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season.

The Promise Keepers climbed up on the league table following a 2-0 win over Heartland in a matchday 18 fixture on Monday.

Akwa United will take on Remo Stars in their final first stanza fixture this weekend.

They currently occupy 17th position on the league table with 19 points.

Abdullahi believed that the game is a must win fixture for the team.

“We’ve three matches to secure the job – by that, I mean taking ourselves out of the relegation zone before the mid-season break,” Abdullahi told Completesports.

“The last match of the first stanza, against Remo Stars, is one we’ve to win, and win convincingly.”
