CDS vows to sustain operational tempo against insurgents

The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa has said the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to sustain its operational tempo and posture across military deployments both at home and abroad.

Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu, Acting Deputy Director, 8 Division, Army Public Relations in a statement on Friday, said the CDS disclosed this on Thursday, 26 December, 2024 while delivering his Christmas address at his Luncheon with the troops of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) at Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto.

The CDS further said the season reminds of the enduring values of love, hope, unity, and selflessness that troops of Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies exemplify daily in their service to the nation.

He extended his heartfelt appreciation to troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria, particularly in their deployment to OPFY.

General Musa stated that despite the inherent challenges, their daily commitment to duty in the field remains a source of inspiration and further exemplifies the true spirit of patriotism required for defeating the threats to the nation’s peace and stability.

He further stressed that the recent deployment of the Special Operations Brigade and some combat enablers to dislodge and eliminate the re-emergence of Lakurawa terrorists from their camps in Sokoto and Kebbi states was a testament to the commitment in combating all security threats across the theatres of operations.

He urged the troops to remain steadfast and resolute in their responsibilities, noting that the coming year presents an opportunity to make significant progress in overcoming the challenges confronting the nation.
