CHAN 2024Q: Ghana can’t stop Home Eagles again – Ogunmodede

Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has said present form and not past encounters will determine who secure a place at the 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN.

Nigeria will face perennial rivals Ghana in the second leg of the final qualifying round tie at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday (today).

The Black Galaxies have stopped Nigeria from qualifying for the competition twice in the past.

Didi Dramani’s side came out tops the last time both teams met in the qualifiers two years ago.

Ogunmodede declared that they are not dwelling in the past and determined to qualify for the competition.

“They (Ghana) may be depending on so much history and the times they have been victorious over Nigeria, especially in the CHAN, but we are blind to that,” he told a press conference in Uyo.

“In camp, we are not allowing any historical talk to distract us. We are focused on achieving the win that will see us qualify for the finals.”
