Yobe Police prosecutes 454 cases in 2024

Yobe State Police Command said it has succeeded in prosecuting 454 criminal cases in 2024, while probing 116 cases more.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, highlighting the Command’s significant milestone in its fight against crime in the state in 2024.

“During the period under review, a significant decrease in crimes, including: armed robbery, kidnapping, and homicide, was recorded.

“454 cases were successfully investigated and prosecuted, with 116 cases still under investigation”, he said.

According to him, the Command had adopted new strategies aimed at protecting vulnerable groups from harm, resulting in a decrease in sexual-related offences.

“Similarly, 17 cases of unnatural offences were recorded and are being thoroughly investigated and prosecuted”, Abdulkarim added.

The Command through the PPRO restated its commitment in ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state, noting that this commitment is reflected in the Command’s efforts to sustain its successes and build on its achievements in 2025.

The Command also acknowledged the collaboration and cooperation of the members of the public and enjoined them to continue with the efforts.
