EPL: Arsenal’s title hopes suffer blow after failing to beat Brighton

Arsenal’s hope of winning the Premier League title this season suffered a huge blow on Saturday night after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton.

The Gunners were hoping to close the gap to leaders Liverpool to three points at the Amex. They took the lead through Ethan Nwaneri in the first half.

The 17-year-old raced down the left and curled in an effort under Bart Verbruggen.

Arsenal missed a few half chances to extend their lead until William Saliba was penalised for headbutting Joao Pedro inside the area. Pedro stepped up and sent David Raya the wrong way.

Mikel Arteta’s side now have 40 points from 20 games, five off Liverpool, who now have two games in hand.
