EPL: Arsenal facing major problem in Nico Williams transfer

Arsenal will have to offer Athletic Club winger Nico Williams a huge salary if they want to lure him to the Premier League.

The Gunners are among the many admirers of Williams, who has impressed in La Liga and Euro 2024.

According to The Athletic, they are willing to match the forward’s release clause this January.

However, convincing the 22-year-old to leave the Basque club in favour of a move to north London will be complicated.

Williams will demand high wages, which could see him become one of Europe’s highest-paid players.

Due to the tax differences between Spain and England, Arsenal may have to offer more than £300,000 per week in order to meet his demands.

Williams has been a regular in the first team at Athletic Club again this season.

He has contributed two goals and five assists across La Liga and the Europa League, helping lift his side to fourth in the Spanish top flight and second in the continental competition.
