Nigerian troops neutralize 120 terrorists, arrest 105 others – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters says troops of the Nigerian military have neutralized 120 terrorists, arrested 105 others while 43 hostages were rescued in the last one week.

This was contained in a statement by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba on Friday in Abuja.

Buba said the troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI also conducted air interdiction operations, killing 64 terrorists and arrested 28 suspects.

According to him, in the North West, the Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out offensive operations, killing 21 terrorists with 24 arrests and 5 rescued kidnapped hostages.

The Defense spokesman further stated that the Joint Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN in the North Central region equally arrested 14 persons and rescued 11 kidnapped hostages just as they recovered 3 locally fabricated pistols, 23 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, and 5 live cartridges.

Buba explained that troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE in the North Central region conducted offensive operations, arresting 5 violent extremists and rescuing three kidnapped hostages.

In the South South region, the Defense spokesman said the Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against crude oil theft, recovering 631,709 litres of stolen crude oil and destroying 10 crude oil cooking ovens.
