FA Cup: I can’t believe you’re Liverpool player – Robbie Fowler slams Reds star

Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler, has admitted he does not believe Darwin Nunez is a Reds player.

According to him, the Uruguayan does not do enough in terms of his work-rate, citing his lack of goals as a major concern.

Media Talk Africa reports that the South American had a decent first two seasons under former boss, Jurgen Klopp.

However, since the arrival of Arne Slot, the striker has struggled to stamp his authority on the pitch.

The Uruguayan, 25, has netted just four goals and made four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this season.

Fowler does not believe the striker is what the Reds needs and has started to lose patience with Nunez.

“The more I see him, the more I think he’s not a Liverpool player. People might have go at me for saying this and say ‘oh he works hard,’ but you’re not signing a player because he works hard, that should be a pre-requisite,” he told ITV.

“You’ve got to come in and score goals and I know he’s a fan favourite but at the time we’re talking now you’ve got to play better and do better in a Liverpool shirt.”

Nunez provided the assist for Diogo Jota’s 29th minute strike against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

However, the Uruguay International once again struggled in front of goal, missing two big chances.
