Falconets forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has officially joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave. The young striker made the move from Rivers Angels, a team in the Nigeria Women’s Premier League.
At just 19 years old, Okwuchukwu has signed a one-year contract with San Diego Wave. Her addition to the team’s roster is contingent upon passing a medical examination and obtaining her International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.
Okwuchukwu gained significant attention during the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she represented Nigeria’s Falconets. Throughout the tournament, she played in all four of the Falconets’ matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
