Ex-Sokoto Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa dumps PDP

Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, the ex-Governor of Sokoto State has formally stepped down from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to focus on a new project designed to empower young Nigerians.

In a correspondence dated January 8, 2025, directed to the PDP National Chairman, Bafarawa characterized his choice as “profoundly personal and challenging,” yet necessary to align with his fresh vision centered on empowering the youth.

“I have recently dedicated myself to a youth initiative focused on inspiring, empowering, and changing the lives of our young individuals, who are the cornerstone of our nation’s future,” Bafarawa stated in the letter.

While recognizing the PDP’s important contribution to Nigeria’s political progress, Bafarawa stressed that his choice was made to prevent any possible conflicts of interest as he redirects his attention to this new endeavor.

“My main focus will now be to generate chances for youth empowerment, encourage innovation, and advance principles that will guarantee a thriving future for everyone,” he stated.

Bafarawa conveyed his thanks for the chances he had within the PDP and acknowledged the leadership and members of the party for their contributions to promoting democracy.
