Former Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has emerged as a potential candidate to manage Borussia Dortmund, a club competing in the Champions League. The 54-year-old left Manchester United last October and has since made several visits to Dortmund.
Ten Hag has been a frequent guest at the Bundesliga club since his departure from Manchester United. According to Sky Germany, he was recently shown around the business area and engaged in discussions with Dortmund’s technical director, Sven Mislintat. The former Ajax manager maintains a positive relationship with Dortmund’s chief advisor, Matthias Sammer, who previously brought him to Bayern Munich as a reserve coach.
Ten Hag was even present for Dortmund’s recent match against Bayer Leverkusen, where the team suffered a 3-2 defeat. Despite the speculation surrounding his potential appointment, Dortmund currently has no plans to hire Ten Hag, as the club’s hierarchy continues to support their current manager, Nuri Sahin. However, this situation could change if Sahin is unable to improve the team’s recent lackluster performance.
Dortmund has won only one of their last five Bundesliga matches and currently sits in ninth place in the league table, with 25 points after 17 matches.
