Famous Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has described the viral reports suggesting that she fled the United States due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles as inaccurate. Media Talk Africa notes that the actress announced her arrival in Nigeria through a series of posts on her Instagram story on Thursday, January 9, 2025. In her post, she wrote, “Touchdown Abuja. When my American fans follow me back to Nigeria. I had to evacuate in 20 minutes. Please, guys, stay safe out there. If you have family in LA, check on them.”
Following her announcement, it was widely reported that Omotola had left Los Angeles for Nigeria because of the wildfires, which have forced over 137,000 people to evacuate their homes and have claimed more than 30 lives, including that of Hollywood actress Dalyce Curry. However, in response to these reports, Omotola took to her Instagram page on Tuesday evening to deny the viral speculations and reassure her fans that she and her family are safe.
“I want to take a moment to address the incredible outpouring of concern and support I have received regarding the fires in Los Angeles,” she stated. “To set the record straight: My family and I are safe. However, I have seen reports suggesting that I had to leave the U.S. because of the fire. This is inaccurate. I have been in Nigeria since December 2024, and I’m still here presently. While I deeply cherish my connection to LA, these fires were not the reason for my travel.”
The wildfires have affected thousands, including A-list singers, actors, and other celebrities.
