EPL: Iwobi urges Fulham to move on from derby loss to West Ham

Alex Iwobi emphasized the importance of moving on from Fulham’s recent defeat in the London derby against West Ham United. Marco Silva’s team suffered a 3-2 loss to the Hammers at the London Stadium on Tuesday, a result that left the players feeling disappointed.

In that thrilling encounter, Iwobi was a standout performer, scoring both of Fulham’s goals. Reflecting on the match, he expressed the team’s frustration with the outcome, noting, “We’re all disappointed with the way we lost the game, just mistakes. Had we not made the mistakes, we would have won it.” He acknowledged the need to quickly shift focus, stating, “But then there’s a game around the corner, so we cannot dwell on it. We dust ourselves off and go again.”

Iwobi also highlighted the team’s offensive efforts, mentioning that they created numerous chances and hit the post twice. However, he pointed out a critical lesson: “If you don’t defend as a team, you get punished in the Premier League.” This season, Iwobi has made a significant impact, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Currently, Fulham sits in ninth position on the table with 30 points. The Cottagers are set to face Leicester City away on Saturday, as they aim to bounce back from their recent setback.
