EPL: Gary Neville reveals decision that could cost Liverpool title

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said selling Darwin Nunez in January could “cost Liverpool the Premier League title.”

Nunez is being linked with a move away from Anfield after falling out of favour under new manager Arne Slot.

The Uruguay striker arrived from Benfica for a fee of around £85m in the summer of 2022.

But he has since turned into a bit-part player, starting only seven league games this season.

Nunez has netted just four goals this season and missed several big chances.

But Neville said on The Overlap: “If I’m the owner I’m saying to the sporting director and coach that we need to accept that offer but would it cost us the league?

“The coach can sit there quite relaxed but the sporting director will think he wants to take that money but does that leave Arne Slot short?

“I would keep him. I would keep him until the end of the season because I wouldn’t want to risk the league. He is streaky and he can go on a run of goals.”
