EPL: Amorim sanctions Man Utd star’s departure from Old Trafford

Manchester United defender, Tyrell Malacia is all set to leave Old Trafford this January transfer window after manager Ruben Amorim sanctioned his departure.

Malacia joined the Red Devils from Feyenoord in 2022 in a £13 million deal.

He was former manager Erik ten Hag’s first signing for the Premier League club.

The 25-year-old performed well in his debut season, winning the Carabao Cup.

But his career has derailed after he suffered a horrible knee injury at the end of that campaign.

Malacia was ruled out for the next 18 months after undergoing surgery.

He only returned to the pitch in November, making five appearances since.

However, it doesn’t appear the Dutchman has much of a future under Amorim, with reports from the Netherlands claiming that the defender will leave Old Trafford in the coming days, as per Metro UK.

The report added that Man United and Amorim told Malacia on Friday that he is free to look for a new club this month.

This means Malacia is expected to leave United will on loan for the rest of the season.

Amorim, meanwhile, has been heavily reliant on Diogo Dalot to play as his left-wingback so far this season, while Noussair Mazraoui can also play in that position.
