Biden welcomes Trump to White House ahead of swearing in

The outgoing President of the United States, Joe Biden has welcomed his successor, Donald Trump to the Capitol Hill ahead of his swearing in.

Biden and his wife, Jill, welcomed Trump and Melania to the White House.

Welcoming them, Biden said: “Welcome home.”

They will sit down for tea, before heading to the Capitol, BBC reports.

It’s the first time the pair have met today.

Later today, Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the US at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The day began with Trump and the First Lady, Melania attending services at St. John’s Church, marking the start of the official inauguration activities.

Despite prior legal challenges, including an indictment and an FBI raid at his Mar-a-Lago residence, Trump’s
supporters celebrated his return to office.
