Kwara senator clears air on planned defection from APC

The senator representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has denied circulating rumours claiming his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The speculation arose after a video surfaced on social media showing Mustapha in conversation with former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki at a public event, sparking rumours about his possible exit from the APC.

However, Mustapha, who holds the title of Turaki of Ilọrin, addressed the claims on Monday, dismissing them as unfounded.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Nasif Solagberu, the senator reiterated his commitment to the APC and his constituents, refuting the defection rumours as baseless.

“The series of fabricated reports circulating on social media alleging my defection are false,” Mustapha said.

“As a principle, we do not dignify fake news or its peddlers with rebuttals, which is why we have maintained silence in the face of these baseless claims.”

Mustapha emphasized that he remains a loyal member of the APC, stating that his focus remains on delivering quality representation to his constituents.

“I am fully committed to my duties and will not be distracted by cheap and unfounded propaganda,” he declared.
