UCL: Two teams qualify from league phase to knockout stages

At least two teams have booked their places in the knockout stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

They are Liverpool and Barcelona.

Arne Slot’s men have stayed top of the league phase from Match Day 1. And their 2-1 win over Lille on Tuesday night maintained their perfect record.

The Reds have won all the seven fixtures they have played so far, meaning they have 21 maximum points.

Barcelona’s dramatic 5-4 victory Benfica, means that Liverpool still need one more point to be certain of top spot.

However, no team can now overtake their tally of 21 points after seven consecutive wins.

Barca have also booked their spot in the next round, as the win in Portugal takes them up to 18 points.

After each team has played eight matches, the top eight move into the last 16.

The clubs ranked between ninth and 24th go to the play-offs to complete the line-up in the knockouts.
