Serie A club, Cagliari are reportedly set to ramp up their attempts to sign Rangers striker, Cyriel Dessers.
The Red and Blue are desperate to reinforce their attack this month and have now turned to Dessers after negotiations for another forward broke down.
Cagliari could however face competition from another Serie A club, Empoli, who have been linked with the forward.
The 30-year-old could leave Rangers before the end of the winter transfer window in search of more regular playing time.
The Nigeria international has fallen down the pecking order at the club following the emergence of Hamza Igamane.
He however sent a timely reminder of his qualities by netting a sublime goal in Rangers’ dramatic 2-1 loss to Manchester United in a UEFA Europa League clash on Thursday night.
Dessers has scored an impressive 17 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions for the Gers this season.
