A 30-year-old man, Rabiu Sani, drowned in a puddle in Kunture town, Ungogo Local Government Area, Kano State, on Saturday.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the Fire Service received an emergency call at approximately 9:57 a.m. from a police officer, Silas Munkhaila, reporting the incident.

“Our emergency rescue team from the state headquarters promptly mobilized to the scene and arrived at 10:15 a.m.,” Abdullahi said.

“On arrival, we found the victim, Rabiu Sani, who had fallen into the puddle while fetching water as instructed by his father.”

The statement revealed that the rescue team pulled Sani from the water unconscious.

However, he was later confirmed dead.

The Fire Service noted that the incident occurred due to the victim slipping while attempting to fetch water.

His body was handed over to the ward head of Kunture town, Uba Abdulkadir, in line with standard procedures.
