Hamas leader killed in Tulkarem drone strike amid expanded West Bank operations – IDF

The Israel Defense Forces, IDF, announced Monday that it conducted a drone strike in the West Bank city of Tulkarem, killing Ihab Abu Atwi, the local head of Hamas, as part of its expanded military operation in the area.

According to a joint statement from the IDF and the Shin Bet security agency, Abu Atwi was responsible for multiple attacks on Israelis, including a July 2024 shooting on a car that left three people wounded.

The IDF also confirmed that another Hamas operative, identified by Palestinian news agency Wafa as Ramez Damiri, was killed in the strike.

The military has released footage of the drone strike and noted that significant forces have entered Tulkarem, marking an extension of the operation that began last week in Jenin.
