Abia PDP faults Reps member Nkwonta’s defection to APC

The chairman of the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abraham Amah, has condemned the decision of the member representing Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Abuja, Chris Nkwonta, to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Abia PDP chairman, who disclosed this recently during his visit to PDP stakeholders in Akwete-Ndoki, Ukwa East, and Ogwe, Ukwa West, revealed that the federal lawmaker could not win an election until he joined PDP, through which he secured victory in 2023.

Amah expressed regret that barely a year after assuming office, Nkwonta abandoned PDP, the party that enabled his victory, for APC.

He stated that PDP would reclaim the Ukwa East and Ukwa West federal constituency in the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, the PDP chairman of the Ukwa West Chapter, Ben Nwachi, also decried the federal lawmaker’s defection to APC, describing it as unjustified given the support PDP gave him in the 2023 polls.

He assured the State Working Committee of the party that PDP would recover the seat in the 2027 elections.
