Kano State Labour Party governorship candidate Bashir Bashir has defected to the All Progressives Congress, claiming he was sidelined by his former party. He pledged his support for the APC’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

In announcing his defection, Bashir recalled a press release issued on 27 January 2023, in which he and his colleagues expressed concern that neither he nor his associates had been consulted on important Labour Party decisions. “Our views were not sought, our opinions not taken, and our voices not heard,” he said, noting a complete lack of a collaborative relationship.

Representing a coalition of Labour Party governorship, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, as well as members of the Presidential and Governorship Campaign Councils, Zonal and State Coordinators, Bashir announced that the group had decided to endorse the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
