Forcing people to insure their vehicles wrong – Shehu Sani

A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has frowned upon police authorities compelling Nigerians to insure their vehicles.

Sani stated this in a post via his official X handle on Monday.

According to the former lawmaker, insuring vehicles should be done by choice and not by compulsion.
“Forcing people to insure their vehicles is wrong. It should be a personal choice if a person wants to insure their vehicle or not. Insurance guys just want to drag people to their offices,” he tweeted.

Media Talk Africa recalls that the Nigerian Police Force has commenced the enforcement of the third-party vehicle insurance policy across different states.

The police said the initiative will ensure vehicle owners and road users are safeguarded, adding that the move was necessitated by the directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
