Championship: Iheanacho seeks fresh start at Middlesbrough

Kelechi Iheanacho is ready for a new adventure at Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough.

Iheanacho joined Michael Carrick’s side on loan from Spanish outfit Sevilla on Monday.

The Nigeria international endured a difficult six months at Sevilla, following his arrival on a free transfer last summer.

The 28-year-old failed to register a goal in nine league appearances for the Rojiblancos.

“I’m really excited to be here, it’s a lovely place, they’ve made me feel welcome, so I’m really happy,” he told the club’s official website.

“The move went really quickly. Everything was quick and fast, so I’m buzzing to be here. The coach is good, the team is good, and I’ve played against them a few times, and I think it’s a good club. The manager is a really nice guy, and I’ve been speaking to him as well, so I’m happy to be here.”

Iheanacho will look to make his debut for Boro against Sheffield United next Wednesday.
