Terrorists kill 4, abduct others in latest Southern Kaduna attack

Unknown gunmen have attacked and killed about four persons in Majagada community in Lere Local Government, Kaduna State.

Many others were injuried and abducted in the attack which occurred in the early hours of Monday.

The Akurmi Development Association, AKURDA, condemned the incident in a statement by its National President and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Maigamo Yakubu and Mr. Pius Kyauta Agaji, respectively.

The statement explained that those killed in the attack are Mr. Maitala Madaki, Mr. Iliya Kasada, Mr. Ishaya Luka, and Rev. Bitrus Sale, a respected ECWA pastor.

“The loss of these lives is a tragic reminder of the senseless violence that has plagued the region for too long.”

It added that 12 people were kidnapped during the attack, including women and children, which ages ranging from 14 to 40 years.

The abducted individuals were listed as Mrs Godiya Istifanus, Miss Happy Awaje, Miss Rachael Istifanus andMrs. Agnes Yusuf, Mrs Nchiye Haukuri, Mr. Divine Haukuri, Mr. Habila Digga, Mrs Martha Ibrahim and Mrs Comfort Yusuf.

Others are Mrs Nahum Tanko, Mrs Zakka Tanko, and Mrs James Tanko.

The statement noted that the fate of these individuals remains unknown, and their families are left to suffer the agony of uncertainty.

It stated that three people were injured during the attack namely Mr. Bawa Samaila, Thomas Bawa, and Peter Maitala and are currently receiving medical attention.

AKURDA has urged the security agencies and those in power to intervene promptly and ensure the safe release of the abducted individuals, pointing out that the association has also called for increased security measures to prevent future attacks.

It noted tha it is imperative that the government takes concrete steps to address the root causes of the violence and ensures that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The attack on the Majagada community, according to the statement, is a stark reminder of the need for collective action against violence and insecurity.

The association expressed its solidarity with the affected families and the entire Majagada community, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and the suffering of the innocent people of Majagada.

“We pray for the safe release of the abducted individuals and the recovery of the injured. We also call on the government to take immediate action to prevent future attacks and ensure the security of our people.”
