Our relations with foreign countries based on dignity, wisdom, interest – Iran replies Trump

Tehran has responded to United States President Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding his willingness to hold talks with Iran, stating that the country’s relations with foreign countries are based on three principles.

The three principles, according to the Iranian government, are dignity, wisdom and interest.

Iranian government spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani made the assertion while answering to a question concerning Trump’s comment at a news conference on Wednesday.

“Tehran’s policies and international relations are based on three principles: dignity, wisdom, and interest.

“All matters, particularly relations with other countries, are guided by these principles,” Mohajerani said.

Trump had on Tuesday moved to sign a presidential memorandum to restore his maximum pressure campaign on Iran.

The move is to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and also drive down its oil exports to zero.

It also brings back the tough US policy on Iran that Trump, a Republican, practiced throughout his first term.

Earlier, during an exchange with reporters while signing the executive order aimed at reinstating sanctions and intensifying pressure on Iran, Trump was asked about potential Iranian retaliation, including threats against his life.

The US President said: “If they did that, they would be obliterated.”
