Arteta needs to stop making ridiculous excuses – Piers Morgan

Controversial British broadcaster, Piers Morgan has said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should stop making ridiculous excuses following his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg defeat to Newcastle United.

According to Morgan, Arteta’s decision not to sign a top striker during the January transfer window means Arsenal won’t win a trophy this season.

Arteta watched as Newcastle eliminated the Gunners from the Carabao Cup with a 4-0 aggregate victory, having won the first leg 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.

Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon scored the goals to send Eddie Howe’s side to the Carabao Cup final.

Newcastle will face the winner between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Arteta, speaking in his press conference, said: “We have played so many games, every three days, and we knew that would be a high intensity. Emotionally it was a different game to believe we could get there. And before we expected, the game got away from us.”

However, Morgan is not pleased with Arteta following Arsenal’s exit from the Carabao Cup.

“Arteta deserves this. He needs to stop making ridiculous excuses and accept responsibility for not buying a proper striker,” Morgan wrote on X on Friday.

“A decision that means we Once as again won’t win a trophy this season.”

Arsenal will now shift their attention to the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
