FA Cup: Liverpool’s Quadruple dream ends after shock 1-0 defeat to Plymouth

Liverpool have been eliminated from the FA Cup, thanks to a shock 1-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle on Sunday.

The Reds came into the game as huge favourites to win the fourth-round tie.

But manager Arne Slot made 10 changes to his starting XI, ahead of next week’s Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

Eight minutes after the interval, Plymouth were awarded a penalty after Harvey Elliott’s handball

Ryan Hardie stepped up to drill home the spot-kick in emphatic fashion.

Hardie almost added a second, but his shot was turned on to the post by Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool applied some pressure in the closing stages, keeper Conor Hazard saving superbly from Diogo Jota, but Plymouth closed out a landmark win under new manager Miron Muslic.

The Premier League leaders are now left in three competitions, including the Carabao Cup, where they face Newcastle United in the final next month.
