Senior Pastor Dr. Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja, together with the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, have urged Nigerians to vote only for credible candidates in the upcoming elections. They emphasized that voters should seize the chance to elect individuals with clean records and good character.

Speaking on Friday during a two‑day crusade themed “Light Has Come” in Makurdi, Benue State, Enenche—who will receive an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Benue State University on Saturday—warned that choosing the wrong candidates would prolong the nation’s adversity and calamity. He described the 2023 election as an opportunity to change the country’s future and break away from the evil, wickedness, and darkness that have plagued Nigeria for the past seven to eight years. “It is an opportunity to decide whether we want banditry, terrorism, underdevelopment, massive corruption, nepotism and clannish operation to continue, or we want a total departure,” he said.

Enenche noted that the current slate of candidates presents a clear choice between corruption and incorruptibility, light and darkness, progress and retrogression, old and new order. “If we choose the old order—expired and retired people who should be resting—we are ready to continue in adversity and calamity. But if we choose people of proven result, credibility, integrity and a heart for the people, we have a chance to change things,” he added.

Similarly, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria advised citizens to avoid voting for candidates of questionable character. In a communiqué issued after its first plenary at the Catholic Secretariat in Abuja, signed by President Archbishop Lucius Ugorji and Secretary Bishop Donatus Ogun, the bishops wrote: “This forthcoming election provides us with yet another opportunity in our national history to choose leaders capable of governing for the common good. This is now the time to reject evil, greater or lesser, and wisely choose good and capable candidates at all levels. Our votes are precious; we must use them well. We encourage all eligible citizens to come out en masse to vote for God‑fearing, honest, vibrant, and transparent leaders for a better Nigeria.”
