UCL: Tie almost over – Shearer reacts as Real Madrid beat Man City 3-2

Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer, has claimed the Champions League knockout playoff between Manchester City and Real Madrid “is almost over”.

Erling Haaland scored twice for the Premier League campions who were leading 2-1, before two late goals from the visitors.

Former City midfielder, Brahim Diaz equalized, before Jude Bellingham scored with the last kick of the game.

The result gives Madrid a slender advantage ahead of the second leg. But Shearer believes the LaLiga giants have the tie where they want it.

He said: “You’d still have hope at 2-2.

“But it will be an absolute miracle if Real Madrid don’t go through now.

“Manchester City’s confidence will be absolutely shattered. It’s almost over – not quite over but almost.”

The winner of the tie will progress into the Round of 16 of this season’s competition.
