The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has finally endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Mr Ortom endorsement comes barely a week to the presidential election.
The governor, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, announced his choice of candidate at a town hall meeting in Makurdi, on Thursday.
The public endorsement of Mr Obi has put to rest months of speculation on which candidates he will support.
Mr Ortom, who is a member of a splinter group in the opposition PDP, said the task of fixing the myriad of challenges is beyond political party affiliation.
He added the former Anambra State governor had the character and competence to lead Nigeria.
βThis is not about party. I am not in Labour Party, but I am working for Peter Obi. Peter Obi will make sure that we sleep with our two eyes closed. These unnecessary killings that are going on in our country will stop.
βOf the three presidential candidates, Peter Obi has the character and competence to lead Nigeria.
βWe must, in this 2023, fashion a new Nigeria; Nigeria that will give the people equity, fairness, and justice,β Mr Ortom said.
