NNPP lawmaker Yusuf Galambi defects to APC amid party crises

A member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Yusuf Galambi, has officially defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal crises within his former party.

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read Galambi’s defection letter during Thursday’s plenary session in Abuja, where he welcomed the lawmaker, who represents Gwaram Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, into the APC fold. Abbas also urged members of the ruling party to embrace their new colleague.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the National Assembly has recently witnessed a wave of defections, with several lawmakers shifting allegiance to the APC from opposition parties.

Among the latest defections, Rep. Amos Magaji, representing Zangon Kataf Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, recently moved from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to APC, while Rep. Salisu Koko, representing Koko-Besse/Maiyama Federal Constituency of Kebbi State, also joined the ruling party.

The growing trend of defections highlights the evolving political landscape within Nigeria’s legislative chambers as the APC continues to strengthen its majority.
