I’m grateful for your love – Modric tells Real Madrid fans

Real Madrid captain Luka Modrić has expressed his gratitude to the club’s fans for their support during the team’s 2-0 LaLiga win over Girona on Sunday.

The 39-year-old veteran midfielder scored a brilliant long-range goal to help Real Madrid secure victory against the visitors.

The Croatia international controlled a looped clearance on the edge of the Girona box before smashing the ball into the far corner.

Modrić received an outpouring of support from the home crowd as he celebrated his stunning goal.

Real Madrid defeated Girona at the Santiago Bernabéu, with goals from Modrić and Vinícius Júnior.

“I am very grateful for the love from the Real Madrid fans.

“I can only say thank you, the goal is simple, you just have to shoot,” Modrić said in his post-match interview.

The result leaves Madrid in second place in the LaLiga table with 54 points from 25 games.

Real Madrid’s next fixture is against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.
