I’ll never go to PDP – El-Rufai

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has addressed speculation about his potential presidential ambition.

El-Rufai stated that although he is qualified to run for the presidency, he has never discussed such plans with anyone.

He made this remark on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Monday evening while commenting on his recent meetings with opposition figures.

Lately, El-Rufai met with some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State. He also held meetings with former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

However, the former governor dismissed the possibility of joining PDP.

According to El-Rufai: “Anyone from the age of 35 with a secondary school certificate is qualified to run for president, so in that sense, I am qualified.

“But have I started talking to anybody about running for any office? No. I have never discussed that with anybody.

“PDP is not a party I would consider joining. I thought about it long ago and made my decision. Nothing has changed.”
