Passenger flight narrowly escapes collision with private jet in Chicago

A Southwest Airlines flight narrowly avoided a collision with a private jet at Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning.

The collision was averted after the Southwest pilot performed a go-around, briefly touching down on the runway before taking off again to prevent a potential accident.

According to the airline, Flight 2504, which had departed from Omaha, Nebraska, landed safely at Chicago Midway after avoiding the other aircraft on the runway.

Videos showing the Southwest plane taking off while a smaller Flexjet aircraft moved across the same runway have since surfaced on social media.

A company spokesperson told CNN that the crew followed safety procedures and the flight landed without incident.

“The crew followed safety procedures, and the flight landed without incident. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of our customers and employees,” the spokesperson said.
