Abiodun urges IPAC to champion good governance for credible electioneering

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday urged the state’s Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, to continue promoting political unity, strengthening electoral integrity, and supporting good governance.

Governor Abiodun assured that his administration would remain committed to supporting IPAC in achieving its objectives.

He made this statement while unveiling Democracy House, the new IPAC secretariat in Ijemo, Abeokuta. The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiu Hamzat, urged IPAC to champion good governance and ensure credible elections in 2027.

“Today is a significant day for us as we gather to commission this edifice. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun, as IPAC previously had no dedicated secretariat,” Hamzat said.

“The governor has asked me to assure you that he will continue to support IPAC in Ogun State in achieving its mission and objectives—promoting political unity and cooperation, advancing democratic governance, strengthening electoral integrity, and championing good governance.

“I strongly believe that if IPAC upholds these principles, the 2027 elections will be free, fair, and credible.”

Earlier, IPAC chairman Abayomi Sanyaolu expressed appreciation for the governor’s continued support and commitment to democratic values.

According to Sanyaolu, the new secretariat is a symbol of solidarity that will enhance democratic participation, political engagement, and good governance among political parties.

“Today’s unveiling is not just for the Inter-Party Advisory Council but for all political parties and stakeholders in Ogun State,” he said.

“The establishment of Democracy House symbolises unity, partnership, and a shared commitment to fostering good governance, political engagement, and democratic participation.

“Your Excellency, we acknowledge and appreciate your ongoing projects, support, and dedication to democratic values. Once again, Ogun State has set the pace, becoming the first in Nigeria to establish a high-level secretariat for IPAC.”

He pledged that IPAC would continue to collaborate with the Abiodun-led administration in achieving its governance objectives.
