Mass exodus as bandits overrun Zamfara community

Residents of Fegin Mahe, located in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, are hastily abandoning their homes, clutching their belongings as they seek safety from the relentless onslaught of armed bandits.
Bakatsine, a security analyst in the region posted on X that the area has been overrun by the armed gunmen.

This is happening after recent attacks in Zamfara has left many dead, while 50 others have been kidnapped.

Zamfara State has been grappling with escalating banditry for years, leading to devastating consequences.

In 2018, the state government reported that over 3,000 lives had been lost to bandit attacks, with more than 2,000 homes destroyed and significant economic losses incurred.

The situation has deteriorated further in recent times.

In December 2024, armed men abducted at least 50 people, including women and children, in the Maradun area of Zamfara State.

These kidnappings have become alarmingly frequent, with bandits targeting villages, highways, and even schools, demanding hefty ransoms for the release of their captives.
